Historically, programs and instructional practices delivered in a classroom setting have often looked different from what was originally intended. When elements of programs and practice are adapted, the quality of implementation in affecting learning is impacted.
Programs purchased by Durham Public Schools and agreed upon by schools must have a common vision and a deep understanding of the learning targeted by the program itself. To sustain a plan of building capacity in others to fulfill a common vision, we must implement our programs with fidelity through the same expectations.
A Cooperative Program/Resource Use Agreement has been created with the intention of outlining those expectations so that schools implement programs in the fashion in which they are intended. The agreement includes an outlined intentional use, as well as requirements of use. It also identifies the district level of support that will be provided to sustain the plan to build capacity. In addition, the district will partner with schools to monitor a program/resource’s impact on student learning outcomes, considering data such as participation, ongoing support, accessibility, along with shifts in student outcomes.
