Thanks to the generous grant by MacKenzie Scott, DPS is excited to announce SPLASH 2023: Summer Professional Learning Academy to Support High Expectations. This is a chance for CERTIFIED STAFF to engage in deep learning around Math, Literacy, Culturally Responsive Teaching and equitable practices. 10-month Certified staff will be paid for up to 4 days of learning as well as an additional planning day to help them internalize the learning and improve instruction. This allows for 5 days of paid learning, CEUs and collaboration! ($240/day) Please save these dates:
June 20-22 Math, Literacy and MTSS focus integrating equitable practices (Exceptional Children/ English Language Learners/ Culturally Responsive Teaching Strategies) at Hillside High School
June 26-29 Content Deep Dives at Riverside High School
August 8-10 Repeat of previous content, with new programming for Classified staff at the "old" Northern High School

Thanks to the generous grant by MacKenzie Scott, DPS is excited to announce SPLASH 2023: Summer Professional Learning Academy to Support High Expectations. This is a chance for staff to engage in deep learning around math, literacy, culturally responsive teaching and job-specific content.
CERTIFIED STAFF
10-month Certified staff will be paid for up to 4 days of learning as well as an additional planning day to help them internalize the learning and improve instruction. This allows for 5 days of paid learning, CEUs and collaboration ($240/day)! Please save these dates:
June 20-22 at Hillside High School: Math, Literacy or MTSS focus integrating equitable practices (Exceptional Children/ English Language Learners/ Culturally Responsive Teaching Strategies)
June 26-29 at Riverside High School: Content Deep Dives
August 8-10 at “Old” Northern High School: Repeat of previous content, with new programming for Classified staff
Remember, certified 10-month staff will be paid for up to 4 days (24 hours @$40/hour) of learning sessions and 1 day of planning. While a few select schools have opted for a district-based planning day for their teachers, most schools are hosting school-based planning days. Principals will notify staff of the date, time and location of their planning day.

10-month certified staff will be paid for attending up to 4 days (24 hours @$40/hour) of learning sessions and 1 day of school-based planning.
11-month staff will only be paid for sessions taking place during their “off” month. They may be paid for time spent planning if they are presenting a session.
12-month employees will not be paid for attending as they are already being paid.
CLASSIFIED STAFF is included in this grant as well!
Classified staff will receive their Sched Registration emails in one week, on May 24, 2023.
During the week of August 8-10, 2023, most classified employees will have a variety of sessions to choose from and will be compensated for 1 day of learning ($240/day).
School-based, classified staff members in year-round and specialty schools will have sessions to choose from the weeks of June 20-22 and June 26-29, similar to certified staff members, and will be compensated for 1 day of learning ($240/day).
Bus drivers and monitors will attend sessions July 31 - August 4, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Drivers and monitors will be paid for attending up to two of the offered sessions, equal to 1 day of learning.
School Nutrition staff members will attend sessions July 31 - August 4 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Cafeteria staff members will be paid for attending up to two of the offered sessions, equal to 1 day of learning.
Registration for classified staff members will begin Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
12-month employees will not be paid for attending as they are already being paid.
SCHED Conferencing App You MUST log in using your First_Last@dpsnc.net account, otherwise you will not get paid!
Registrations for SPLASH will open May 17, 2023 for certified staff, and a week later on May 24, 2023 for classified staff. DPS will be using the Sched Conferencing App for all registrations for SPLASH. This is an easy way to sign up and track your professional learning progress! Every employee will need to open a Sched account, which will then take you to SPLASH registrations. An invitation to sign up for Sched will come via email directly from Sched, please know this is NOT a phishing test or scam email. To find instructions for creating your Sched account, click here. Please register THIS WEEK if possible!
This will be a 4 step process:
Receive an email from Sched, inviting you to sign up.
Download the Sched app from Google Play store or Apple Store, or use the website at splash.sched.com.
Create a Sched account using the sign up link in the email and using the Sched instructions.
Register for sessions.
